We need your help!
The youth library is
looking for donations of old craft materials you've
maybe outgrown or aren't interested in anymore. Our Teen
Advisory Board is writing a grant to the Paul Post
Foundation to start a craft club and would like to show
that our community supports the idea. We're
accepting donations of the following: Knitting Needles,
Crochet Hooks, Thread, Scrapbook Materials, Ribbon,
Velcro, Measuring Tape, Cardstock, Stamps, Yarn, Craft
Knives, Embroidery Floss/Thread, Scrapbook Paper,
Scissors, Buttons, Duct Tape, Paper Punches, and Stamp
Pads. Also, if you're interested in coming to one of our
meetings and demonstrating your craft, we'd love it!
We're looking to learn the following: Knitting,
Crocheting, Felting, Paper Arts, Hand Sewing, and
Embroidery/Stitching. If you're interested or have
questions, call Megan @ 228-3517. Thanks!

thanks to the wonderful people at General Mills who
gifted us with $1,000 to replace titles which have been
loved dearly, but worn out! Get ready for all your
favorites to be sparkly new, as we're updating favorites
such as The Wizard of Oz, The Indian in the Cupboard,
The I-Spy books, even Captain Underpants! We will
be donating a number of our discarded favorites to local
daycare centers! See just a few of our new
additions on the left!

Youth
Library Updates Audio Collection
in honor of Mary W. Davis Tope
Due a
number of generous donations in honor of Mary W. Davis
Tope the Youth Library has been able to breathe new life
into its audio collection. In addition to many cassette
recordings being replaced, classic and new popular
titles have been purchased. In total, the youth room
has acquired over 50 new books on CD which span all age
groups. Titles range from family listening to teen
interests, fantasy to biography and beyond.
Mary was a
catalyst in the foundation of the youth library, serving
on the library board when the Youth Library which is so
well loved now was just an idea. Her support was
invaluable and through this gift she will continue to be
a part of our every day activities.
All titles
are now available and circulating, so swing by and get
something to listen to for yourself, to share with
others, or for your next car trip!

Children and the Library
It is the Library's policy that the responsibility for a child's reading selection and borrowing lies solely with their parent(s) or guardian(s) Children are encouraged to browse and to choose books that meet their needs, interests and abilities.
The Library Staff is not responsible for enforcing the restrictions a parent deems appropriate in terms of materials their child may access either in book or internet form.
School age children may use the library unattended provided that they adhere to the Library's policies.
a. During their visit, children are to remain inside the library. We do not have the facilities for
outdoor recreation.
b. Children are to be productively engaged. reading, computing, playing board games, homework, quiet group activities etc.
c. We recognize that students are hungry after school. Snacks will be permitted provided our guidelines are followed. This privilege may be revoked at the discretion of the librarian. Snacks must be brought with the students and consumed at a designated area. Beverages must be in a sports bottle or spill proof mug.
d. Fletcher Memorial Library does not monitor or censor the information your child can access through the Internet. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure their child uses the Internet in an appropriate and safe manner. Parents and/or guardians are encouraged to be present and supervise their child's Internet use at the Library. Any restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the child's parent/guardian.
Students need to abide by their parent(s) or guardian(s) rules pertaining to leaving the library. The Staff does not have the authority to give a student permission to leave the library and return.
The Library assumes no responsibility for children of any age left unattended. Further, parents or legal guardians assume all liability for damage done by their child to the library. This includes damage to materials, computers, furnishings, and to the facility. In the event that a child is left at the Library past our regular closing time and staff is unable to contact a parent or guardian, our policy is to call the Ludlow Police Department and leave the child in their care.
